Love, the Church, and God

Luke 10:25: And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to
inherit eternal life?
26: He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?
27: And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.

Love is the most formidable weapon in your arsenal of destruction.
Love reaches upward, downward, outward, and inward. Everything is covered.
Love is like a shield of protection that keeps you safe from the fiery darts of the enemy. Nothing more than you can
bear without a way to escape.
Love is the reason God sent His Son.
Love is the reason, Christ bore the cross.
Love is the reason for your adoption.
Love is the reason for your inheritance.
Love is the reason for your blessings.

If love is all this, then why is love the mortal enemy of the church!!
The church wants to knit pick every little thing that it is involved in.
The church doesn't want to love this one because of that.
The church doesn't want to love that because of this.
It appears to most folk that the church just doesn't want to love!!

Let me tell you something, That is not the church that Christ said he would build.
That is not the church that is standing upon a solid foundation.
That is not the church that God is going to send His son to receive into heaven.

Think about it!!
The church is to be the bride of Christ.
Who wants a bride without love??

The church of today needs to get their focus on God and off of the people.
The church of today needs to focus on what the church is supposed to be, instead of what they want the church to be.
The church of today need to accept what love is, instead of portraying what love isn't.  First Corinthians chapter 13 is
a necessity in the church.

There are four major aspects to a heart that loves God.

1.  We Should Love Gods Ways

Isa. 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9: For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts
than your thoughts.

Accept this fact and quit trying to be God!!!
You've heard it said that God works in mysterious ways,
Why then are we looking toward our own ways when seeking the things of God.

Many Christians find it difficult to accept Gods ways, because they are set in their own ways.
God doesn't change, but we must. By the renewing of our minds.

Rom:12:2: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye
may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

We must accept Gods ways, because they are best. God is always right. We should pray Davids prayer.

Ps. 25 :4  Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

The first true sign of Gods love in your life is you are going to change the way you think.
You are going to begin to desire Gods ways in your life.

2.  We should love Gods Word

Isa. 55:10: For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth
the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
11: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall
accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Gods word accomplishes that which He pleases. Our love for Gods word should be about His pleasure.
His word Brings Hope to the hopeless, comfort to the comfortless, salvation to the lost.
It is a strength and a refuse for the lonely and depressed.

The problem with the church is that we want to skip over anything that is not appealing to us.
We are like the rich young ruler, we can keep the commandments, as long as we can keep our riches of comfort.
As long as there is no requirement.
As long as all I have to do is go to church and listen I'm good. Just don't ask anything of me.

David said:
Ps. 119:47  And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.

Which I have loved!!!  David spent half his life a fugitive, on the run, living in caves in the wilderness, or in a strange
land that was not his own.
The church of today wouldn't begin to think of roughing it.
The church of today don't even know the commandments of God.
The church of today don't have time to read the word of God.
The church of today don't even have time to come to church three times a week and hear the word of God.

You cannot say that you love God and not desire His word in your life.
To love God is to love His word. Read it, remember it, and claim it!

Hosea:4:6: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also
reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also
forget thy children.

You have not because you ask not.
You ask not because you know not.

Gods word is the key to the kingdom, It is like a diamond engagement ring.
Who will not accept it?
Who will not keep it?
Who will not love it?

The parable of the woman with the lost coin says that she will search until she finds it. It has meaning to her. It
defines who she is. Gods word should have the same importance to us as her coin does to her.

3. We Should Love Gods Work

1 Thes. 1:2: We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
3: Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord
Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;

Many Christians fall short when it comes to doing Gods work. We all have too many other interests of our own.
It is time for us to evaluate our priorities, and be about our Fathers business.

Paul Said:
Col. 1:9: For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye
might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10: That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing
in the knowledge of God;

Fruitful in every good work here, is accomplishing that which God has called you to do, not just doing for your own

The church today doesn't want to do anything that doesn't bring them pleasure.
Being about the Fathers business is hard work.
It takes hours upon hours of study.
I did not wake up one morning and say to myself," I think I'll be a preacher".
When God called me to preach, I said, "I think I'll go to Tarshish." Then I read about old Jonah. I saw that God was
going to have it His way.
So I accepted the calling He placed upon me, and strive to do the best I can through His guidance.
Being a preacher, scared the devil right out of me.
The person you see standing before you today is not the person I once was.
The person who you are seeing is a product of a living God. Not anything of myself, but entirely the renewed man that
God has called me to be.
Today I love the work of God that I once feared.
Whether to sing, or preach, or to just hug someone who needs it. I love the work of the Lord.

We should love Gods work enough to do it Joyfully, Fully with Joy, After all that is what Christ did for us.

Heb:12:2: Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him
endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Here is our example!!
For the joy that was set before Him, He fulfilled Gods will in His carnal Life.
That brings us to our next point.

4. We Should Love Gods Will

Eph. 6:5: Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling,
in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
6: Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;

The only way to do the will of God from your heart is to do it with Love!
That doesn't mean that you won't offend someone.
That doesn't mean that you will be able to please everyone.
That doesn't mean that you are going to be accepted in all that you set out to accomplish.

What it means is that you must do the will of God from your very being, from the depths of your heart.
If it means being belittled, rejoice in fulfilling His will.
If it means being ridiculed, rejoice in fulfilling His will.

Paul said:
Eph. 5:17: Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

We can Know Gods Will. We may not know why, or how, or when. But we know that it is for our good.

Rom. 8:28: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the
called according to his purpose.

To love the Lord is to love His will
Ps. 40:8: I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Can you say that today?  Can you tell God that your desire is to fulfill all that he has called upon you to do?

1. Love Gods Ways
2. Love Gods Word
3. Love Gods Work
4. Love Gods Will

When these are predominant in your life, you will love life.
