2Pt:3:9: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us‑ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The church is under attack! So what do we do? Attack back? Many religions, Catholics, Mormons, Muslims, JW’s. Buddhists, Hari Krishna's, and the list goes on and on and on. During the election I faced a dilemma of uncertain proportions. The question appeared innocently concocted, it simply read was I for Bush and Against Kerry? Or vice versa?
There are many aspects of the Christian life that we need to address concerning what we are for and against. Such as Abortion, Assisted suicide, homosexuality. And many others. Several scriptures came to mind as I searched the answer to this question.
Paul teaching to the Romans Rom:8:1: There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Woman taken in Adultery Jn:8:11: She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
Jesus concerning one doing the works of Christ. Lk:9:50: And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.
Jesus against the Romans Mt:26:53: Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Quote John 3:16 Everlasting life can only be obtained through repentance! Repentance of who you once were, what you once believed, what you use to do., how you use to act. True repentance is to change to be come different, to become new, to be made whole.
2Cor:5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
From unrighteousness to righteousness, from being unjust to just, From being sinful to being perfected in Christ Jesus, from being lost in the world to being saved by grace.
Still the church will kill off its own, still the church sits in judgement of others. Still the church condemns others for their actions. The sad part is the church thinks that they are suppose to! It’s been taught, not to associate, and to keep a distance. Liar and profanity, adulteress, whore monger, thief. Gods people perish for lack of knowledge. Sinners are Gods people too! 2Cor:2:15: For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: How can we be, “ a sweet savor of Christ in them that perish?” By conforming to the word of God.
Ps:1:1: Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Jeremiah 7:8: Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit. 9: Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; 10: And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? 11: Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
The church is quick to state: “ I don’t do none of those things.” Yet Jesus said even as you have done it unto one of these you have done unto me also. Mt:25:40: And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.
Brethren means saved and sinners alike. For God created the wicked also. It’s time for the church to quit trying to decide what we are against and decide what we are for. The only way to make that decision correctly is to validate it with the word of God. Every legitimate question can be answered within the pages of Gods Word. The first question should be , “What is God Against?” God is against false appearances of righteousness Mt:23:27: Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
God is against the desecration of His Holy place Mt:21:13: And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves. Jn:2:15: And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
God is against sin Prov:6:16: These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18: An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19: A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
God is not against people, but instead He is against their actions. He made a way for all people in Christ Jesus.
Jn:9:31: Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
