Prayer for Direction

Ps:25:4: Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths. 5: Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the
God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

Have you considered which direction you are headed?
We all need direction for our lives.
For the physical and the spiritual.

"Shew Me"
Shew me thy ways.....
Ps. 25:4

Today society offers many different options to choose from.
From self seeking to sinfulness to satanic.
All of these are valid ways of direction. Not necessarily the right direction.
True direction for any one will have to come from God.
David realized this at a very young age.
He is praying here:  Show me thy ways.....
Gods ways are going to see him though this journey we call life.
Our own ways are endless and they all lead to death.

Prov:14:12: There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Many people of all walks of life, are represented by this very scripture.
It is primarily easy to do that which seems to be the right thing.
Being a good person is a good thing, but considering the word of God, good isn't good enough.
God has a will, a purpose, and direction for your life.
It does not lie in being a good man, His direction will lead you to become a godly man.

Hag:1:5: Now therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
6: Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye
clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a bag with holes.
7: Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Consider your ways.
8: Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified,
saith the LORD.
9: Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it.  Why?  saith the
LORD of hosts.  Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
10: Therefore the heaven over you is stayed from dew, and the earth is stayed from her fruit.
11: And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the new wine, and
upon the oil, and upon that which the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon cattle, and upon all the labour of
the hands.

Do you feel as if you are laboring and not getting any where? Consider your ways.
Does it seem like there is never enough finances to do the things you desire? Consider your ways.

Haggai is a 6 century prophet, called of God to rebuke the Israelites because they have rejected the Lords work.
They have rejected the Lords will.
They have rejected the Lords direction, and guidance.
This very same thing is happening in the church today, we need to stop and consider our ways.

We need to be praying Davids plea for direction.
"Shew me thy ways....."

"Teach Me"
Teach me thy paths.....
Ps. 25:4

Many of us fail simply because we lack knowledge and understanding.
If we are to receive Gods guidance and direction, we must be teachable and willing to learn.
Many people today have shut the door on God, and are seeking after their own way.
They seek after the way things used to be, or what worked in the past.
They are like a people who have built a bridge, that spans a great divide, and then only went half way across.
They have stopped learning, stopped growing, stopped seeking after the direction of God.

Prov:3:6: In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

God desires to console you, to teach you, to lead you and guide you.
Think about Moses at the red sea for a minute.
God has lead the people out of Egypt, and in no time at all an obstacle of massive proportions stood in the way.
The first cry from the people was, why did we leave? Why did we change? Why did we follow after God?
I am sure that many of them would have gladly returned to a life of servitude in Egypt at this point in their life.
There is no going back!!! We must press forward with God.
Wherever you are in your life today, God has brought you.
There is no turning back to who you once were, there is no time to stand still and wait.
We must be a people who are learning and pressing forward to the place that God is bringing us to.
The things of this world can never be a substitute for the things of God.
Science, philosophy, psychology, no school or college, can teach you as well as the word of God.

Jesus said:
John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all
things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

God desires you to be taught.

2 Tim. 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the
word of truth.

What are we admonished to study?
The written word of God.
This is our source of knowledge, our source of wisdom and understanding.
This word along with the Holy Spirit, and your willingness to learn, will accomplish all that God desires for you.
This is your cloud of leadership, the Holy Ghost is your pillar of fire, and God desires to keep you safely in the midst
of them.

"Lead Me"
Lead me in thy truth......
Ps. 25:5

This is a must for the church today.
We have become so indoctrinated that it is hard for God to get a word in.
We have neglected the truth of Gods word for the teaching of mens minds.
We see it every where we look.
People are following after false gods, false teachings, foolish doctrines, fame and fortune.
None of these things will satisfy the desires of man.
The only thing that will satisfy the longing within us is truth!
Truth can only come when put ourselves in the midst of Gods plan for our lives.
If we are to be led by the Lord, we must continually remain in his presence.
That means that we must put off the temptation of good looking fruit, and be steadfast in our walk with God.
It is of a necessity that we are lead by the Holy Spirit in all that we do.
When we are following His leadership then we will bathe in the waters of truth.

John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of
himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

When we  walk in this truth, then Christ will be glorified.

John 16:14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

God has given us this instruction manual to be used.
Not to be set up on a shelf and allowed to collect dust.
But to show us the course that He has chosen for us.
Without it, we are like a mountain stream, we are continuously running down hill without direction, knowing not what
lies ahead.
That is not Gods desire for you.
He wants you to have assurance in Him.
He wants you to know, to trust, and to receive, all that He has laid out for you.
We should always be praying Davids prayer of direction.

"Show me, teach me, and lead me".
